They created reliable global logistics by standardising how ships, trucks, and trains worked together \u2014 and that reliability reorganised the world economy.<br \/>Sangeet\u2019s point: AI\u2019s transformation will come from the wider socio-technical system built around it, not just the intelligence of models.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5) Start by identifying your industry\u2019s hidden assumptions<\/strong><br \/>Industries run on \u201cstatic truths\u201d that nobody questions until they break. In knowledge economies, one major assumption is that certain knowledge work is scarce and expensive \u2014 and AI is collapsing the cost of accessing parts of it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6) The Shein example: a learning system, not a fashionable brand<\/strong><br \/>Shein didn\u2019t win because it predicted trends better once. It built a system that constantly senses micro-trends, tests small production runs, learns fast, and scales or abandons rapidly.<br \/>The difference is that <em>the whole system<\/em> learns \u2014 not just the customer interface.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7) Why incumbents struggle: it\u2019s architecture, not just culture<\/strong><br \/>Incumbents often can\u2019t pivot even if they want to, because they\u2019re constrained by existing investments and operating structures (e.g., manufacturing built for large batches can\u2019t easily switch to micro-batches).<\/p>\n<p><strong>8) Start-ups face a different constraint: the \u201ccash-burning\u201d learning curve<\/strong><br \/>To reach high enough predictive accuracy and system performance, start-ups often need significant funding up front. Before the learning system becomes efficient, it can be expensive to run.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9) Career reinvention: there are no easy answers \u2014 but agency matters<\/strong><br \/>Sangeet warns against comforting slogans. The pace and self-improving nature of AI makes this a different kind of labour shock.<br \/>His core guidance: <strong>agency is becoming more valuable than ever<\/strong> \u2014 the ability to anticipate shifts, make bets, and adapt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10) Reskilling without foresight becomes a hamster wheel<\/strong><br \/>Learning new skills isn\u2019t enough if you don\u2019t understand what the new system will reward. The deeper work is developing a lens for \u201cthe new game\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11) Above the algorithm vs below the algorithm<\/strong><br \/>Those who design, shape, or own the algorithmic system retain agency and value. Those who work below it can lose discretion, pricing power, and stability \u2014 even in skilled professions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12) Education must shift from testing to learning<\/strong><br \/>Education\u2019s biggest problem isn\u2019t content. It\u2019s incentives. If learners are rewarded for passing tests rather than learning how to learn, they\u2019re trained for static worlds \u2014 not changing ones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13) Purpose and leadership: define the real stakeholder<\/strong><br \/>Sangeet argues purpose is contextual. You can\u2019t define it without naming the stakeholder you actually serve \u2014 because stakeholders determine incentives, and incentives shape outcomes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14) A final reframe: be ambitious, not competitive<\/strong><br \/>Competitiveness is playing someone else\u2019s game and trying to beat them.
