Only three days to go until the General Data Protection Regulation, known as GDPR<\/a> kicks in, on the 25th<\/sup> May 2018. It\u2019s Europe’s new framework for data protection laws that any business owner or organisation needs to be aware of even if you are not located in Europe.<\/p>\n

If you are not living on Mars, you\u2019ve certainly been swamped by the avalanche of emails summoning, pleading, supplicating you to re-subscribe to their mailing lists with updated privacy policy that complies with the GDPR.<\/p>\n

Perhaps it\u2019s you who are sending those emails and frankly you should have done so by now! If you aren\u2019t sure, check out what is GDPR and how will it affect you?<\/a><\/p>\n

Here are instructions from some of the popular mailing systems to update your privacy terms\u00a0 and comply with the GDPR: Mailchimp <\/a>\u00a0| Aweber<\/a> | Constant contact<\/a> | Convert kit<\/a><\/p>\n

Amongst the sea of\u00a0messages received, some are more creative than others to entice you to open the email and click to stay on their mailing list. Here is a list of emails subject tiles grouped into two categories: the good ones that have compelled me to open the email and the bad ones, that went straight to the bin. Sic!<\/p>\n

Just because the GDPR is a serious matter doesn\u2019t mean the email subject should be so boring, scary or desperate. Here is my list:<\/p>\n

  • [name] \u2014 important update (don’t delete!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Bad or Boring Titles that Beg \u2018Delete\u2019 <\/strong><\/h3>\n

    • GDPR – ACT NOW (really?<\/em>)<\/li>\n
    • Your Latest Report & Updated Privacy Policy (focus on a single topic<\/em>)<\/li>\n
    • We’ve updated our Privacy and Cookie Policies (ok, well done!<\/em>)<\/li>\n
    • GDPR kicks in next week- action required (what is GDPR again? Why should I care?<\/em>)<\/li>\n
    • We’ve updated our Privacy Policy (great, thanks for letting me know!<\/em>)<\/li>\n
    • GDPR is coming. (So what?<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
